Phoenix Consent Decree Would Strip Leadership of Authority, Cost Millions

Department of Justice uses “Consent Decrees” to takeover local police departments. The decrees strip local Sheriff’s and Police Chief’s of their executive decision authority. This process has happened to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, and could soon happened to the Phoenix Police Department. The fact is the DOJ cannot force any local agency into enter into a consent decree.
