Almost a year ago, we discussed a disturbing employee survey showing that if a consent decree was implemented, 66% of the employees would consider retirement or resignation with 13% saying that they would absolutely leave immediately. In fact, just 16% said that a consent decree would not affect their decision on retirement or resignation.
A lot has happened since we discussed that issue and we promised at the time that we would help Phoenix officers find other employment if they decided to leave. The Phoenix Police Department is currently 500 officers short and from our emails from officers, they face a dire situation.
The recent revelations from the DOJ Investigation, showing false claims and misrepresentations, have only emboldened the sentiment that officers are looking to leave if the city moves forward with a consent decree.
They tell us that it would be the last straw.
While we WILL KEEP the identity of the officers confidential that have reached out, we do want the public to know this.
They don’t want to leave…They love Phoenix…But they fear being inside an agency with DOJ Oversight.
Indeed, as we have pointed out, that fear comes from decades of disaster.
We aren’t talking about a few officers…A lot have reached out.
To them, we got you. Multiple agencies have reached out to us and they are ready.
If the time comes and you want to stay in law enforcement, we will do all we can to help.
